Dear Mr Cameron,
In many ways, though I am not an historical expert, Detroit today stands as a monument to capitalism and, indeed, neoliberalism. It stands as a testament to corruption, betrayal and abandonment, a city and its people used and abused and left for dead.
Capitalism and neoliberalism have no loyalties other than to self serving greed. Faithful workers, even generations of family and worker loyalty, are rewarded with destitution and decay, human resources no longer required, people’s lives and well being valueless, the misery imposed by capitalism’s treachery ignored, people denied even the right to water.
