I’ve always found it best not to wind electric leads around the part of the hoover/iron provided to do so. Ideally, just let the lead drop or split into a rough couple of loops. It won’t look tidy, but If you don’t do that the filiments inside the lead can soon break, meaning a hefty repair bill (if you can find anyone to repair these nowadays. and companies like Dyson charge a lot!).
I won’t be held responsable if someone then trips up the said lead, just make sure you put it out of harms way! Or just do what you want anyway, it’s just what I’ve observed over the years.
